Music with COlin Dempsey, Ruby Rae, & Mary-Elaine jenkins
Join us in the Tasting Room each Friday for Live Music!
Colin Dempsey is an Irish singer songwriter, writer and storyteller based in New York. He has performed his unique blend of folk-rock music in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and most recently the US. When not strumming, Colin is cheering audiences with personal tales of growing up in Dublin; he is the former Producer and co-host of Comedyland at Astoria’s Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden, and still continues to gab throughout venues in Manhattan. When not telling stories (yes, he does shut-up…) he is writing them–you can catch him doing so at Kettle of Fish in the West Village every Wednesday…at the bar.
He also plays bass guitar for New York neuroscience rock band The Amygdaloids and is one half of the band Super Small.
Mary-Elaine Jenkins is a Brooklyn-based songwriter, singer, and guitarist. A native of the South Carolina Lowcountry, her sound combines manifold influences with a distinctly southern sensibility. After graduating from college in Washington, DC, she spent two years in Madrid, a time that would prove creatively transformative. Upon making her home in NYC, she surrounded herself with a creative network that would eventually include Thom Beemer, who produced and engineered "Hold Still,” her full-length debut.
Ruby Rae is an independent songwriter & singer who collaborates with a talented combination of musicians including Lawson White (Good Child Music, So Percussion), Colin Dempsey (Supersmall), Olivia Mancini (Olivia & The Mates), Ed Coleman (Dead Go West), Tyler Beckwith (We Are The Woods), and Ed Donohue (Donny Hue & The Colors). She writes and performs music that defies easy categorization: a catalogue of influences would include Wanda Jackson, Mazzy Star, and Lori McKenna. Both vibrant and dark, simultaneously catchy and psychological, the sound is cinematic and complex, drawing on diverse sources that include folklore, mythology, horror films, and autobiography.
